Blackboard Tip: Download All Submissions to One Assignment

Here’s how to download all the files submitted to one assignment.

You can download an individual’s assignment submission from the needs grading screen by clicking on the name of the uploaded file under “SUBMISSION” in the lower right of the screen.

But if you’d like to download multiple files at once for offline viewing or grading, go to the full grade center and click the edit chevron to the right of the column header. Then click on “Assignment File Download.”

This will take you to a menu where you can select multiple users. To capture all, click the top box next to the Name column header.

At the bottom of this screen, you’ll see the option to download just the last attempt submitted or all attempts.

Great suggestion. Much less time consuming. Followed the directions and got duplicate copies of each document – one in doc and one in txt. Anything I can do to prevent it??

No, that’s just an unavoidable (as far as I know so far) quirk.

What you’re seeing is a text file for every Word doc (or whatever file format) submitted that just has data about that submission. It’s there because of the “write text submission” option and includes anything the student wrote there. So, you can just ignore it if you’re not using that feature (and students are just uploading files).

      Great question, thank you!
