Blackboard Tip: Don’t Use ‘ANGEL Letter’!

I’ve had a few calls about inflated grades — grades that shouldn’t, mathematically, be As but do show that way in a given grade center.

The issue is an erroneous grading schema (scale) that snuck in via the ANGEL migration. You can fix it by changing the grade display from ANGEL Letter to MCC Grade Scale (or to score or percentage — your preference).

To do this, go to the full grade center and click on the edit button to the right of the column header (one of the weekly discussions, for example) and then on edit column information. You can choose what you think is best for display, but just change it away from ANGEL Letter and it won’t show the wrong letter grade. (This doesn’t change grades, just how they’re displayed.)
