Blackboard Quick Tip: Change Your Course Entry Point

Why is my course opening to syllabus and not announcements?! I put announcements on the top! This is an infuriating little Blackboard quirk with, fortunately, an easy fix.

Most of the time, the top course menu item will be the first things students see when they enter your course (unless it’s blank). But if you’ve moved something to the top and still aren’t “landing” on it, you just have to change what’s called the course entry point.

Go to Control Panel > Customization > Teaching Style.

entry

Change the drop-down menu under “Select Course Entry Point” to whatever item you’d like and then click submit. That’s it!

  1. […] Course copy moves all the course menu items from the course you copied, but it doesn’t replace anything you had in the destination course (remember, bulk delete does not delete blank pages linked in a course menu) and it can sometimes mess up the order of the stuff you brought over. If that happens, just hover your mouse over the link’s far left side, click and drag to move the order. The home page will whatever’s on the top of the menu. (If not, check your course entry point.)
