Blackboard Quick Tip: Turn Off Attachments on Threads

You may not want to allow students to attach files to their discussion posts. Here’s how to turn off that default behavior of discussion forums.

Under Course Tools, go to your Discussion Board, then click the chevron to edit a forum.

Scroll down to the options under the due date to find the area called “Create and Edit.” (Click the screenshot below to enlarge.)

Simply uncheck the “Allow File Attachments” box and save.

Undo allow file attachments

Undo allow file attachments to force students to only type in the text box for discussions.
